Editorial

Editorial standards

The principles that govern what we publish and how we maintain it.

Independence

USEquity earns nothing from the products it describes. We are not paid to favor a lender, broker, or buyer, and our guidance is not influenced by any commercial relationship.

Accuracy and sourcing

Guides are written from primary and widely recognized sources, and figures are presented as ranges where the underlying value is genuinely uncertain. We prefer to under-claim precision rather than imply false confidence.

Plain language

Where an industry term is unavoidable, we define it. Our test for every guide is whether a homeowner with no finance background can act on it.

Not advice

Our content is educational and general. It is not financial, legal, investment, or tax advice, and it does not account for your specific circumstances. For decisions of consequence, consult a licensed professional.

Corrections

We correct errors promptly and welcome reader feedback. If you believe something is inaccurate or out of date, write to us and we will review it.

Updates

Each guide carries a "last updated" date. We revise content when the underlying facts, rates, or rules change materially.
